Orthopedic Clinical Specialists (OCS)

An OCS is a certification given by the American Physical Therapy Board of Specialties and is achieved only by completing a list of rigorous requirements. This certification was established to provide formal recognition for physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge, experience, and skills in the orthopedic field and to assist patients as well as the health care community in identifying these physical therapists.  The orthopedic clinical specialist uses advanced techniques and methods to assist the patient toward optimal function.

To obtain this certification one must have 2000 hours of clinical experience in orthopedic physical therapy and apply to sit for a rigorous exam. Only under 5% of physical therapists in the country have this certification. In our practice, we have 4 therapists who are board-certified orthopedic clinical specialists (OCS). This demonstrates that they have taken the time to gain the required skills and experience in the realm of musculoskeletal disorders. More importantly, it means that as our patient you will receive the highest level of physical therapy.
